Job Description

The Clinical Research Nurse delivers high-quality patient care while coordinating complex oncology clinical trials, combining direct patient interaction with detailed data management and regulatory compliance. This role focuses on managing subject recruitment and enrollment, ensuring consistent study implementation, maintaining data integrity, and adhering to all clinical research and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities

• Perform basic and advanced nursing skills to support patients participating in oncology clinical trials.
• Collect and document accurate and timely clinical information and data from study participants in accordance with protocol requirements.
• Provide clear, compassionate patient education about research studies, including procedures, risks, benefits, and expectations.
• Obtain informed consent from potential participants and support their enrollment into clinical trials while ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate subject recruitment activities, including identifying eligible patients, engaging with clinical teams, and facilitating screening and enrollment processes.
• Manage patient recruitment strategies to meet study enrollment targets and timelines.
• Ensure consistency in study implementation across all assigned protocols, following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and institutional policies.
• Conduct detailed chart reviews and maintain accurate patient records to verify eligibility, capture study-related information, and support data quality.
• Perform data collection and data entry into electronic data capture (EDC) systems and other research databases, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Monitor data integrity and resolve data queries in collaboration with research coordinators, investigators, and data management teams.
• Support ongoing clinical trial activities, including scheduling study visits, coordinating assessments, and ensuring protocol-required procedures are completed.
• Interact with consortium members and participating institutions to facilitate communication, share study updates, and support collaborative research activities.
• Organize and schedule meetings with internal teams and external partners, track and record study progress, and distribute meeting notes and related documentation.
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, institutional review board (IRB) policies, and study-specific reporting obligations.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, research staff, and multidisciplinary oncology teams to optimize patient care and study conduct.
• Contribute to the management and oversight of research processes, leveraging any prior management experience to support workflow efficiency and team coordination.

Essential Skills

• Active PA Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a nurse.
• At least 1 year of RN clinical experience in a patient care setting.
• At least 1 year of clinical research experience, preferably in an academic or oncology research environment.
• Minimum of 2 years of oncology experience, with familiarity in caring for patients with cancer and supporting oncology treatment protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to collect and document clinical data accurately from study participants.
• Proficiency in patient education related to research studies, including explaining complex medical and research information in understandable terms.
• Experience obtaining informed consent and supporting patient enrollment into clinical trials in accordance with ethical and regulatory standards.
• Strong skills in patient recruitment and retention for clinical research studies.
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements governing clinical trials.
• Experience with chart review and maintaining detailed, organized patient records.
• Competence in data collection, data entry, and data management for clinical research.
• Ability to work effectively in oncology clinical trials, including early-phase studies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, consortium members, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Organizational skills to track progress, schedule meetings, and maintain accurate study documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred and valued for this role.
• Some management or supervisory experience is preferred, particularly in clinical or research settings.
• Experience working with electronic data capture (EDC) systems in clinical research.
• Experience in oncology research and exposure to high-profile oncology drug trials.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple hospital and practice member institutions within a large oncology network.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced academic research environment with complex protocols and large sponsor-driven studies.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Interest in professional growth and upward mobility within an academic and research-focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
